Whalefall

Whalefall

Whalefall emerged onto the Berkeley DIY scene in 2024, born out of a love for shoegaze and indie rock. Known for unforgettable performances, atmospheric soundscapes, and raw intensity, Whalefall blends garage alt-rock, Midwest emo, shoegaze, and jazz influences. Their sound echoes the likes of Wednesday, Title Fight, Slowdive, Mannequin Pussy, Black Country, New Road, and American Football. Comprised of 6 members, Vivian Wall fronts the band with her aching vocals and intimate lyrics, backed by catchy yet intricate guitar riffs and a trumpet that cuts through the mix, adding a textural edge. Heavy enough to scream in the car, devastating enough for solitary late-night listens, and energetic enough to dance around the room at live performances, Whalefall has quickly become a staple in the East Bay music community. Their upcoming singles are a taste of a larger body of work worth keeping an eye out for later this year.
